Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence company, has confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for an initial public offering (IPO). This move gives Anthropic the option to go public after the SEC completes its review.
The proposed IPO will depend on market conditions and other factors, and the number of shares to be offered and price have not yet been set. The company raised $65 billion in Series H funding at a post-money valuation of $965 billion led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital earlier this year.
Anthropic has made significant progress in developing its AI models, including the introduction of Claude Opus 4.8, which boasts stronger performance across coding, agentic tasks, and professional work. The company is also expanding its Project Glasswing initiative to approximately 150 new organizations in over 15 countries.
The draft registration statement filed with the SEC allows Anthropic to pursue an IPO at a later date if market conditions are favorable.
