Apple reportedly testing four designs for upcoming smart glasses

Apple plans to launch its first smart glasses in 2027. The company is testing four different designs, including a large rectangular frame, a slimmer rectangular frame, and two smaller oval or circular frames. Apple may also offer these glasses in various colors such as black, ocean blue, and light brown.

The smart glasses will have some basic features, but no displays like those found in more advanced augmented reality devices. Instead, they'll allow users to take photos and videos with their cameras, answer phone calls, play music, and interact with the Siri virtual assistant. This approach is similar to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses, which are also display-free.

It appears that Apple has scaled back its original plan for a range of mixed and augmented reality devices after experiencing delays and poor reception with the Vision Pro. The company will unveil more details about its smart glasses at some point before their 2027 launch.
