Disney looking to make a unified ‘super app,’ report says

Disney is considering combining its popular streaming service, Disney+, with other apps under one unified platform, according to a report from Bloomberg. The potential "super app" would include Disneyland Resort and Disney Cruise Line Navigator, among others. This move is part of new CEO Josh D'Amaro's effort to streamline the Disney experience and make it more cohesive.

Sources close to the matter said that discussions are still in the early stages, but the project aims to bring all of Disney's mobile platforms under one app. This could potentially increase interest in the parks by reaching a larger audience through Disney+, which has over 220 million subscribers worldwide.

D'Amaro emphasized his intent to make Disney+ the primary relationship between Disney and its fans during the company's quarterly earnings call this week. He sees the streaming service as a central hub where everything comes together, but critics note that adding advertisements for cruises or other Disney products may not be appealing to subscribers who pay for ad-free content.

The project raises questions about whether combining different apps under one platform will be feasible and effective in increasing interest in the parks without alienating existing customers.
