Erin Brockovich takes aim at data center secrecy

Environmental activist Erin Brockovich has launched a website mapping data centers across the US. The website, which is still in development, includes data centers reported by members of the surrounding community. According to Brockovich, nearly 4,000 submissions were received in the first month after she put out a call for reports of data center-related issues.

The most common concern raised by these submissions was lack of transparency from data center developers and local officials. Brockovich emphasizes that her goal is not to oppose data centers or AI, but rather to highlight the need for greater transparency in their development process.

Brockovich's map currently includes over 1,500 data centers across the country, with more being added as submissions come in. She plans to use this information to identify patterns and areas where increased transparency is needed.

The website and accompanying Substack post are part of Brockovich's ongoing efforts to hold companies accountable for their impact on local communities.
