Sam Altman's company Tools for Humanity (TFH) announced plans to expand its "proof of human" technology into various sectors, including dating apps, event ticketing systems, and email. The integration will start with Tinder, which has already tested the system in Japan last year.
World's verification tech uses a spherical digital reader called the Orb that scans users' eyes to create a unique cryptographic identifier. This identifier can then be used to access various services, including those integrated with World's technology.
The company also launched new features, such as Concert Kit, which allows musical artists to reserve concert tickets for verified humans and ensure they are safe from automated ticket-buying bots. Additionally, Zoom and Docusign have partnered with World to provide verification integration in their services.
World has faced challenges scaling its verification process due to the need for users to physically travel to an office to be scanned by an Orb. However, the company has been working on increasing the ease and incentive structure for verification, including expanding Orb saturation in major cities and introducing different tiers of verification, including a low-friction tier that uses selfie verification.
