Google has launched "Skills" for its Gemini browser extension, allowing users to save and reuse AI prompts with a single click. This feature is designed to simplify repetitive tasks on the web, such as comparing information or clarifying concepts. Users can save their most helpful prompts directly from their chat history and run them again by typing forward slash ( / ) or clicking the plus sign ( + ) button.

Early testers have used Skills in Chrome to create customized workflows for various tasks, including health and wellness, shopping, and productivity. Examples include calculating protein macros for recipes, generating side-by-side spec comparisons, and scanning documents for important information. A library of pre-built Skills is also available for common tasks like breaking down product ingredients or selecting gifts based on budget and recipient's interests.

Users can edit their saved Skills and create new ones at any time. The Skills feature is built on Chrome's foundation of security and privacy, utilizing the same safeguards as prompts in Gemini in Chrome. This includes asking for confirmation before taking certain actions, such as adding an event to a calendar or sending an email.
