Why half of product managers are in trouble | Nikhyl Singhal (Meta, Google)

Nikhyl Singhal, a senior product leader and founder of The Skip, warns that the next two years will be the most chaotic period in product management history. He estimates that half of current product managers are at risk due to changing market conditions and their inability to adapt.

Singhal identifies several key issues facing product leaders, including the need to find "moments of joy" with AI and overcome psychological barriers to reinventing themselves. He also notes that traditional measures such as resume credentials have become less important in favor of skills and experience relevant to the current market.

According to Singhal, companies will shed approximately 30,000 people and rehire around 8,000 workers who possess AI-first skills. This shift is driven by the increasing demand for products and services built with artificial intelligence.
