Seed Round

Early funding to build product and reach traction

Definition

A seed round is an early-stage funding event used to build an initial product, hire a core team, and reach early market traction. Seed rounds typically range from $500K–$5M and are led by seed-stage VCs or angel investors.

📌 Example

Linear raised a $4.2M seed from Index Ventures in 2020 to build their product — before most people had heard of them. By the time they launched publicly, the product was already refined.
