Year over Year growth comparison

Definition

Year over Year (YoY) is a method of comparing a metric against the same period in the prior year, eliminating seasonal effects and showing true growth or decline trends. It's the standard reporting cadence for investors and board presentations.

📌 Example

If ARR was $2M in January 2024 and $3.4M in January 2025, YoY ARR growth is 70%. Investors typically want to see 2–3x YoY growth at early stages.
